I am a bi-vocational Baptist music minister and love the Lord and His people. On several occasions during my early ministry, I found myself without a pianist for our little church in the country. Finding a good pianist or organist these days can be as difficult as finding a pastor, especially if you have a small congregation. During those times, I realized what a blessing it would be to have recorded piano accompaniment available. Most accompaniment that I could find commercially was midi (computer generated) and didn’t seemed to match our hymn books. Of those tracks we did find, there was no way to prepare the congregation for singing other than play the first verse and bring them in on the second. I tried taping the piano accompaniment but could not get the quality or the flexibility for conducting the music service (rewinding or fast forwarding really detracts from worship).
At the Lord’s insistence, two dear friends and I set out to develop something to meet that need… Hymns from Piney Grove, Volume I was the result. We have since added 3 more volumes and a Christmas Edition. If you are not satisfied with our efforts in either of these CDs, we will cheerfully return any contribution that you have made.
